Scheduled to open in Unique Square West this Summer, Voodoo Doughnuts (made famous in Portland, Oregon) is making its way to New York City.
The Portland staple as been famous and a sought after spot in the Northwest for quiet sometime. You can even credit the late Anthony Bourdain for its mainstream notoriety when he featured it on his show No Reservations.
However, Voodoo Doughnuts has been quiet the scene in Portland with everyone flocking to the shop for a taste of the maple bacon doughnut. Or the blunt shape doughnut that had the whole US talking.
Portland has been gaining massive notoriety for its food and fare over the years. And it’s not by accident that many Portland eateries bring their own unique and quintessential mark to its dishes. And Voodoo Doughnuts certainly is a pioneer.
Grub Street reports that a portrait of Bourdain will hang in the store. And that there will be New York–specific creations like a Big Apple doughnut. But the Glazed Glizzy (a hot dog in a bun-shaped glazed doughnut) looks to certainly leave its mark for New Yorkers.
And when it comes to prices…well they will be in line with other doughnut shops.
Will Voodoo Doughnuts survive on the East Coast?
