The longtime Manhattan steakhouse shutdown shop in June 2026, but that was only to move out east to the Hamptons.
Now Donahue’s is in Long Island and ready to make its mark in Westhampton. And according to a recent interview with Grub Street, Donahue’s owner estimates that 30 to 40 percent of their clientele in the city spend time out in Long Island.
So why change what was working at their Manhattan location for over 50-years? And while there are more tables and a much larger kitchen at its Westhampton Beach location, Donahue’s has still kept the same red tablecloths, pint-glass sidecars, and many of the its classics.
But don’t just think this opens up other opportunities to branch out and license the Donahue name. According to Grub Street’s interview the owner has been offered ‘big money for different licensing agreements.” However, she is not interested in selling.
And if you ever think about using their name, just know that you’re ‘not allowed’ to use their name. And they ‘will sue immediately.’
