Newsweek is reporting that the ex-Pfizer building in midtown New York City is on the verge of collapsing.
Construction workers told officers they saw the structural columns beginning to fail, which has prompted an immediate order to clear the building over concerns it will collapse and spread.
No injuries have been reported, but the potential collapse led police to close pedestrian and vehicle access between Second and Third avenue.
There is now a large response from the FDNY, NYPD, and city building inspectors. Other properties were also evacuated as a precaution.
