Carbone is still (and with good reason) one of the best and most talked about places in NYC dining.
Major Food Group consistently delivers on new and charming spots for food-goers. But Carbone is certainly the crown-jewel of them all. And that’s why tables are scarce.
Reservations are few and far between. Resy is always a good option. Be sure to set an alert. Or try sending them an email to see if any spots opened up. Chances are they may have one for 11pm, or another time that is past your bedtime.
However, if you try the old fashion way, it still may work. One of our reporters at NY Matinée tried this and it worked.
If you walk in at a time you desire to dine, go directly to the hostess stand and ask them if they have a table. Hold out a $50 bill with your hand on the countertop (discretely) so they know it’s for them, and they’ll be most helpful in squeezing you in before another party.
Be sure to hand it to them with a shake. Make sure to also have some $20 bills handy. When the Captain walks you over to your table, be sure to provide them with a nice “money handshake.” And also provide your runner with another $20, too.
Believe us when we say, ‘a kind word and some money can get you a long way.’
